The man returned that night, first trying the front door and then moving to the back porch, causing significant damage but unable to enter due to locked doors. The resident called 911, and police quickly arrived and arrested the man.

We encourage all residents to enhance their home security by installing lights and cameras at entry points. Stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity.

Attempted Break-In on Strathmore Prompts Police to Recommend Lights and Cameras at All Doors

Late last night, an attempted break-in occurred at a residence on Strathmore. The incident took place between 11 PM and midnight when the residents were home. The alarm was triggered as soon as a window was opened, alerting the homeowners to the intrusion. Although the residents did not see anyone inside the house, they reported hearing footsteps.

The police were promptly called and responded to the scene. However, the situation took another turn 1-2 hours later when the residents received an alert that their car was being started. Utilizing a mobile app, they were able to turn the car off remotely. Despite this, the thief made another attempt to start the car, leading the resident to disable it again and set off the car alarm. The police were called back but were unable to identify the intruder clearly enough for a detailed report.

In light of these events, the responding officer recommended that all residents should enhance their home security measures. Specifically, they advised installing lights and cameras to cover all entry points and areas where vehicles are parked. These precautions can serve as effective deterrents against potential break-ins and provide valuable evidence in the event of future incidents.

Residents are encouraged to take these security recommendations seriously to help safeguard their homes and property.
